One of the best pieces of advice I can give any painter is to learn to delegate. If you are going to grow as a painting business, then you have to learn how to delegate the things that other people can do. For instance, we have talked before about sub-contracting out the painting. One of the main reasons to do this is because you have to be the one chasing down leads to keep the business running. Another area I encourage painters to think about is in hiring a good project manager. Once you have booked the jobs, you need someone who is going to be able to schedule the bookings as well as make sure everything is running smoothly. The project manager fits this category. This is the person that will oversee everything from bookings to making sure the painters arrive on time. They can play an invaluable role as you try to grow your business. What they will do is that they will ultimately free you up to do the things that are going to help you grow your business. I know companies that have done this successfully and it has allowed their business to take off. Do you have a project manager? If so, how are they helping your business to grow?
